Museum Exhibitions
Who left this behind? Lange, M.E., 2014. Research and contributed to text for the exhibition (see Research page) and accompanying brochure, and the script of the video, Palmiet River of Secret Lives: interpreting archaeological evidence in the Palmiet Nature Reserve (Narrated by Gcina Mhlophe) on the archaeology and history of the Palmiet Nature Reserve for eThekwini Local History Museums Bergtheil Museum. The exhibition is still running.


They stand their ground against gender-based violence, 2021-2024. Lange, M.E., ARROWSA Bechet and Indra Congress.Collaboration with the Durban Local History Museums at Durban City Hall foyer (2021) and the Old Court House Museum (2021-2022), Pinetown Museum, Durban (from March 2022 to January 2024). Devised project, exhibition and wrote interpretive text for panels.


The history of engraving in South Africa: With a lens on Mashishing, Mpumalanga. 2022. Co-wrote the educational booklet for educators as one of the outputs of the Marking Memories Mashishing project, partially funded by the National Heritage Council (forthcoming).

Commissioned scripts and performances

Uprooted or the Entwined Trees. 2018. Wrote and directed the script adaptation of my original short story for uMsunduzi Museum, Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, for a storytelling performance on cultural tolerance for a Heritage Day Celebration. Published in 2024 in Messy (see books). Illustration by Kathlyn-Sue Allan.

The migration of Early African Farmers (English and isiZulu). 2006. Researched, wrote and directed the video script of an educational DVD for The Circle Connection NPO and KwaZulu-Natal Museum, Pietermaritzburg.

Field trips to the Kalahari. 2004. Wrote and co-edited the video script for Protea Hotel Upington.

Kalahari Fires. 2002. Wrote and assistant editor of the video script for school release via The Circle Connection.

The South African Anglo-Boer War . 1998. Researched, wrote and directed the script of a dramatised programme for the Vaalteknorama Museum that reflected the diversity of people impacted by the war, specifically in the Vaal Triangle area. Unpublished.

Ghamka, Man of Men. 1998. Researched, wrote and directed the script for a dramatisation of a school-prescribed literature book by Eve Merchant for Pretoria Flagship Museum performances for schools. Unpublished. © Eve Merchant

Changing worlds, changing texts: worlds create words and words create worlds –A prayer for Rebirth and notes on the dramatised text. 1997. Wrote and directed the work. Unpublished manuscript. Winner of the UNISA English Poetry Award 1997. Invited to perform the dramatised poem at the Unisa English award ceremony and in 1998 at the Pretoria Flagship rock art conference, Gauteng and in the same year at the Kleinplasie Festival, Worcester, Western Cape.
